VA Polytrauma System of Care

VA Polytrauma System of Care provides integrated network of specialized rehabilitation programs for veterans with traumatic brain injury TBI and polytrauma. Five Polytrauma Rehabilitation Centers in Minneapolis Palo Alto Richmond San Antonio and Tampa provide acute inpatient rehabilitation. Services include emerging consciousness programs comprehensive rehabilitation outpatient programs assistive technology transitional rehabilitation and long-term case management. Network includes 23 Polytrauma Network Sites 87 Support Clinic Teams and specialized staff at all VA facilities. Programs address physical cognitive psychological and psychosocial rehabilitation needs. Interdisciplinary teams provide medical care therapy services prosthetics family education and vocational support. Research programs advance TBI treatment through VA TBI Model Systems. Lifetime care coordination ensures continuity across all levels of recovery.
