American Humane Pups4Patriots program provides exceptionally trained service dogs at no cost to veterans and first responders suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress PTS and Traumatic Brain Injury TBI. Dogs trained according to scientific advisory committee guidelines informed by veteran experts mental health professionals and veterinarians. Applicants must be actively working with licensed mental health professional as part of treatment plan. Assessment gauges if service dog will support recovery journey. Research shows service dogs reduce stress anxiety depression while easing social reintegration. Program addresses critical gap with waiting lists often years long and training costs exceeding $30000. To date over 300 lifesaving service dogs provided. Veterans paired with dogs specifically matched to their needs and lifestyle.
